I have been rather disappointed with the state of flexable static content modules around. About the closest thing I can find is WF-Channel. It works just like I want except that it puts one top level entry into the main menu.
-----------------------------
example Main Menu-wf-channel
-----------------------------
wf-channel
--About Us
--Services
--Products
--Link to us
Forum
News
-----------------------------
end of example
-----------------------------

What I want is this:
-----------------------------
example Main Menu like I want
(only one section would be expanded)
-----------------------------
About Us
--Company Info
--History
--Professionals
--Beliefs
Services
--Meat Grinding
--Pork Pulling
--Chicken Plucking
--Fish Scaling
Forum
News
-----------------------------
end of example
-----------------------------

I realize that a main menu entry for each section requires seperate modules to be installed. I am OK with that. What I invision is a version of wf-channels that has a central config sheet (how it should be done anyways) that can be modified for each new main menu entry required. After modification, this "new" module would be installed.

I am currently using static folders and subfolders with manualy cofigured xoops_version.php files to achive this. Each static folder is installed as a module. It actually works very well. The only issue is no ability to update it through the XOOPS administration. I ftp like a regular website.

I am planning on reworking the wf-channels to provide this desired functioality.

That's the good thing with such a communiy as this, if you're wanting customisations you can just jump on in and do them yourself, and you may end up helping a lot of people without coding skills while you're at it .

Then your using the wrong module m8, wfchannel is not supposed to work that way. Its only for adding 'about us, privacy etc etc' and nothing more.

Please do not fork my module, you want any thing changed then please ask me. This IS an on going project and I am still developing it as we speak.

You will want it's big brother 'WF-Sections' for that!

Hey Catz,

Speaking of WF-Sections, will there be any more releases b4 it's included into the 2.1.X core? Also, will there be an upgrade path from current WF-Section versions to the WF-Section that is to be included in the core?

P.S sorry for thread hijack.

I will not fork your module... You are doing sooo much more work than I am. As I mentioned above, I have a functioning way of doing what I want right now (manually).

WF-Channel is great because of it's simple implementation. I love that. I also understand that that is why it may not have the capability I need. WF-Section (as much as I have looked at it) is much more powerful, but does not provide the ability to have multiple main menu entries with there own arbitrary sub muenu entries. This is what I, and I would imagine a lot of others, want to do.

Correct me if I am wrong, but this seems to be a limitation of XOOPS not the modules. I can not create multiple top level main menu entries from a single module. If this is indeed true, I can at least create a very easy to configure module that can be installed multiple times. This gives me the multiple top level main menu entries I need. If I am way off base... Could someone kindly point me to a single module that does create multiple top level main menu entries so that I may check out how it works?

Thanks,

Jason
