Because of a bug in IE6, users get a blank page when they try to download a jpg file linked to the article.

The problem seems to be with content-disposition in IE6. I found a few similar, but not exactly the same, descriptions on the MS site:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;267991
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;816868

My XOOPS site is set to ISO-2022-JP. Most of the text is English, but in the forums, we want to offer Japanese as needed.

So I'd like to change the charset for just this module to see if that fixes the problem. (I doubt it will.) Does anyone know if this is possible? And if so, how?

Or perhaps you've solved the same problem and would share your fix with me?

I'm running XOOPS version 1.0 RC 3.0.4 and the site ishttp://www.fccj.or.jp The problem module ishttp://www.fccj.or.jp/modules/archives/index.php

Thanks for any insights you have.

Hello Oaklid,

You might want to check out this thread about changing the theme based on the module. You might be able to use the same logic to change the character set. Someone there had an idea about making a CSS file for a specific module. Maybe that might work. I don't know if that would work with XOOPS 1.x though....

Hope that helps,
Chad

To my understanding, it is rather the module's problem than IE's. Because I couldn't download the attached .jpeg files unless the fact that I use Opera7.2 at first. However I soon realized that my Opera was identified as IE6.0 since I'd made Opera return "MSIE6.0" as its User Agent.

Eventually, that did the trick. Thus I could download the attached pictures.

I don't know how this module works at all. But I suppose this module checks "the value of User Agent", and if the visiter's user agent is "MSIE", it returns the blank page. So the key of this problem seems to lie in "dowload.php" itself.
