Could someone give me some advice on how to set files set up on my server so that others can download to their PC. I am new at this web game and need some simple guidance. Is there a XOOPs user 101 class/training I could have access to help me out?

am I right in assuming you want to allow people to download file packages like zip or tar ?

Have you installed the downloads module? In system admin go to the modules link and install the module. Configure and prepare your file packs for downloads. This will mean compressing them in their folders and uploading them to the appropriate directory on your server
