Please help!

I have been running XOOPS with no problems for over a year. Suddenly I change a theme in settings and the whole website has gone. The URL is www.productionpark.com/xoops all I get is a blank page.

Can you help?

Roy

First of all, don't panic!

Now, have you emptied by any chance the contents of the 'templates_c' directory? If not, I would advise you to do so.

Furthermore, there could be a chance that some file was corrupted along the way, either from your unzipping/untarring utility or by the FTP client you used to upload the theme.

It could also be a problem with the theme itself. Which theme are we talking about? Is it yours, that is custom-made, is it one of the themes available for download?

If it is yours, which editor did you use to edit the theme.html file? Did you use a WYSIWYG editor, like Macromedia Dreamweaver or even worse Microsoft Frontpage?

You see, there are a lot of things that could have gone wrong. If you care to answer these questions, then I could provide more help, I'm sure

HI Panos thanks for replying.

I changed from bluely to redstar when it all went blank. I have changed to redstar before without a problem so I suspect the theme is ok. Both themes are public themes, I did not make them.

I'm not too sure what 'templates_c' directory' is so I doubt I have emptied it?

I hope you can help!

Thanks

Roy

The templates_c holds the compiled templates.
I think c stands for cache.
If the compiled template file couldn't be found, it is compiled again.

OK

I'm going crazy now. I don't have a templates folder anywhere in my web directory - and I don't have a xoops_config in myphpadmin.

Does anyone know why every single page on my site shows a blank screen. It must be a simple missing or corupt file.

Interestingly, the RSS feed still works on a remote site.

Anyone:(

You should have "templates_c" directory right off the XOOPS root. Clearing it out is the first thing to do. If you don't have that directory then create it and give it 777 rights.

If that doesn't fix it then create and run a file with one line in it:
<?php phpinfo(); ?>

Name it whatever.php and put it where you can call it: www.yoursite.com/whatever.php

That can tell a story for us.

Oh yeah, you should test a theme well before setting it to default. Even if you didn't make it or modify it. Always work on a copy that isn't default until you're sure.

THanks Don

See if

http://www.productionpark.com/xoops/help.php

makes any sense!

And I've created

http://www.productionpark.com/xoops/templates_c/

with 777.

Hope you can help further!

Cheers

Roy

You didn't waste any time with the 2.4.24 kernel

I don't see anything critical in the PHP. You have lots of things folded in that I don't use but nothing that I know will crash it.

The site is bombing when it tries to get the theme. You are running 1.3.7? I don't know that version but in 2.x you can simply rename the theme directory currently set as default which forces X to load the /themes/default theme (never modify that theme). You might get the site back and fix the problem.
