omg, just found this Helpdesk software today, it's simply the best open source solution i've seen (and perhaps better than some of the pay-solutions)

www.osticket.com <<

it would be great if someone ported it to XOOPS (HINT HINT)
lol

btw, i tried the ZenTrackXoops port.. ugh.. but i guess that's a different method for a helpdesk.. (it really needs the interface chged to smarty templates)

once i get some money flowing, XOOPS and OSTicket are the 2 groups that i'll be donating to

OSTicket looks good, but the demo is offline because they haven't patched it yet... But if this does what it says it does, we might even do this in the Module Dev Team, because it would be a great tool for XOOPS support

btw, it's small/lite, doesn't look uber complex, i'd bet it would take no time for you l337 coders to port it

okay, i've made a good start on getting it 'ported'

changed all the sql calls over, changed all the includes, got at least the index file working within the XOOPS header/footer, so at this moment, going to the module, it looks like it's integrated, ehehe

oh, and i can install/uninstall it without any problem, whee

<-- first time making a semi-successful effort at porting something to xoops, ehehe

if anyone wants my 'version' of the code so far, lemme know

I'd like to have it, because I've just posted this on the XOOPS Module developers site (closed site atm). I've also posted a link tohttp://helpdesk.oneorzero.com, into which we're also looking. And maybe the devs feel that it's better to start from sratch, but then they'd have some good examples at least.

original osTicket 1.2.5 package, unaltered

patch for their automail.pl script, unaltered

my hacked up 'module' of it so far, lol

my helpdesk zip has a modified sql dump file, it was originally a dump of my REAL helpdesk installation, but i had to take out references to my site, passwords, etc...

i'd really suggest you guys code from scratch, or at least install the normal package, configure everything, then dump the database and put your dump file in the modules/helpdesk/sql folder, just so you can work with your own information properly

also, keep in mind, i'm new to xoops, so be prepared for a mess, ehehe (well, it's actually not horrible..)

btw, i converted the sql, the post/get calls, and the module will display within xoops

the module will install/uninstall, but i did not configure a Menu link, i was just going to the module manually

aaaanywho, if you need anything, i'll be back on in a few hours

I've beening looking at porting Edgepanel to XOOPS (http://www.renaxsolutions.com/html/edgepanel.php), but I'll have a look at this. Edge panel is a complete support desk, with built in live chat, server status, kwnowledge base, tickets and more. They've taken the download down for now as it had a few bugs and they're waiting to release the new version, but it looks awsome.

They also use a nice CMS (Mambo). But nothing close to XOOPS
