Ok on the submit article in the news section which i renamed there is a Publish in Home? option with a yes or not check bix.

What home is it talking about? Nothing is showing up on my front page:
http://www.politicsforum.com/home/

What content can I have displayed there automatically?

I want all the latest articles and columns displayed there in headline style with blurbs and links to the rest of the articles and columns.

How can I get the contents from the special sections and news articles to also show up on the front page?

Thanks in advance.

Max

This option is for when you set the news module as the home page module (system admin -> preferences -> general settings -> set startpage module to...). News articles that do not have this option ticked should not be shown on the homepage then. To be honest, I'm not sure if that option still works or not...

Use Herko's method to quickly get your news up.

To get the other modules in there as well (ie. sections) go to blocks admin and turn on, in center-center/center-right/center-left setting, each block you want (they are listed by module name).

You also have the option of option of using out-of-module blocks such as "Spotlight" and lycos' modules (havn't ued these myself, but seen them in action and they look good). Whether or not you make news your front page, you'll want to set the block as visible on the "Top Page" (default).

Good luck,
Keith

I think you guys are confusing me even more.

I don't want any modules to show up in the center anywhere.

I want the CONTENTS of the News section AND Columns (special section) to show up on my default/index page/front page and only the latest 5/10 articles/docs, not the mods themselves.

and Spotlight" and lycos' I have no idea what they are or where they are and are they available for this version I am using?

Ehmmm, let me try it...
Xoops does not show things automatically, you have to tell what you want.
Content of recent news on your front page (healine style) :
Go to administration menu
Choose blocks
choose to edit the block : recent news. Here you can tell how much headlines you want to show, where to show the block, an so on.
Back in the block menu you can choose the recent news to be displayed : in the left, the middle, or the right menus. (the CONTENT will be shown there.

Then you also have to tell Xoops, which users are allowed to see this headlines.
This you can find in the groups setting (also in admin menu) When you want all users (also anonymous) to see Your headlines choose the group anonymous and check the recent news item.

Aloha

That does not help me at all. I do NOT want any BLOCKS showing in the center on the front page. I want News and special section items/content to show on the main page. NOT of the News main page and not on the special content main page as they already show up there. I mean the MAIN page! This one:

intrestingly I came acros your post, while I myself looking for some other solutions. I found you are looking for something which I may of little help to you of my XOOPS exposure.

Go to Admin CP> System Admin > Groups > (Edit Groups)= 'Anonymous Users' > Check All = Module Access rights AND Block Access Rights.

And check,http://www.politicsforum.com/home/

If it doesent helps you, Im am sorry :(

Ok let me try this again.

I have a news section (which I renamed). When people submit stuff the stuff gets shown on the News page.
http://www.politicsforum.com/home/modules/news/

I want the latest 5 new items to also show up on the main page/front page/
http://www.politicsforum.com/home/

I have a special section. when stuff is posted to it I want the same as above, the last 5 items to also show up on:
http://www.politicsforum.com/home/modules/news/
