Is there a way to allow the users access to their own avatars which are not part of the site?

Why not allowing the users to upload their avatars to your site?

You should be able to change your avatar here.. as far as i know you are allowed to upload your own custom avatar if not well the webmaster here has made some changes.

Actually, I was talking about a feature that allowed people to use their own avatars in my XOOPS site. phpBB boards for example allow people to link an image outside the site as their avatar.

Re: Off-site avatars?

and XOOPS provides for a user to upload their own avatar when you go to View Account -> Avatar. Please note that the administrator of the site can control if this feature is enabled, and if it is only possible after a certain number of messages are posted by the user.
