I seem to be having a problem editing it.

I downloaded it and I just want to add in a couple simple links.

I didn't them links yet because I wanted to test. However, they aren't showing up.

Am I doing something incorrect?

Sounds like you modified the template file in /modules/news/templates/blocks/ . If so you'll need to update your module in "System" -> "Modules" for your modified template to be inserted into the database. XOOPS 2 includes a template manager, which lets you modify all the templates from within the administration panel. For an introduction on how to use this admin panel, please see my post:

I have some problems with news topics block too. I need to remove the selectbox and insted of it there must be a list of topics. Could someone plese give me any directions how I could get what I need?
Edit: I use altern8news if it matters.
