I have a stable version of my site running version 1.3.7 of Xoops. I have been dangling in the past for a bit while I got my themes and custom modules up to date for the 2.0.3 version (which now is going to be upgraded again to 2.0.5). Now I am satisfied with my modules and what-not, and I want to upgrade my stable site from 1.3.7 to the new and improved 2.0.5.

I cannot lose any of my members database, discussion boards or my news database and so on. I want to upgrade the site with the most minimal amount of effort possible, and I want to be sure not to corrupt anything.

What is the best way to upgrade my site to the most current version without destroying anything? Are there utilities that I need to download? How can I be sure that the database will be intact and compatible when I'm done?

first you have to take a backup from MySQL database
then only upload XOOPS files and folder then go to http://yoursite.com
xoops will detect evry thing

if you get any error dont worry you have the backup

Am I to assume that you mean I can overwrite all the files with the new files?

Is it safe to assume that all the tables in the mySQL database use the same column field names and what-not?
