I'm back, found another probleme

With visit.php (for download and links) script.

It goes here :
http://www.koreus.com/visit.php?cid=3&lid=6

Instead of :
http://www.koreus.com/modules/mydownloads/visit.php?cid=3&lid=6

This one is very annoying :(

Thanks in advance

Koreus:

Both problems has been solved in this version:
http://www.wtmmail.com/XoopsShortUrls/xoops_shorturls.txt3

Also, I made posible to rewrite urls with Within-page links, alas: file.html#forumpost1

Try it and let me know if something else was broken.

People, as I said before, the above file is in a testing process and is not intended to be in a production site. You can try it, but if you find errors, switch to the previous version.

Reynaldo:

I found the problem. I think the ShortURLs will not translate anything other than numberical variable. I have a date field base64_encoded so the program just ignores it.

Another issue - the search results are not be translated.

Thanks again for a great hack.

LOL, I just replied to your message.

So that's what is happening with your URLs? I saw the two equal signs (==) at the end of the url but it never occurred to me it was the result of base64 encoding.

Well, that's the reason why they aren't rewritten. I would have to check if I can add that functionality without breaking something else.

If it is not absolutely necessary, you may try not encoding the date variable, maybe converting it to a unix timestamp instead?

Keep me posted.

I made changes to the date variable (to yyyymmdd), I have managed to make one module work. Thanks for your help.

Any reasons why the research results are not being re-written?

Tl:

Search results are not being rewritten because of the space right before &PHPSESSID

I think this one can be included without breaking anything.

[Edited:]
It is also because the script expects the url to start with "/modules" not with "modules".

Anyway, I don't think this one is so important as I really doubt Search Engines will fill out a search form

Re: Customized ShortURLs

Hi Reynaldo,

Thank you for trying to help me with this.
I am trying to get my URL's like this from within the module itself:

/china/links/photography/
/china/links/
/china/attractions/60/shanghai.html

What I would like to do with your hack is to convert this to:

/modules/destinations/linkscat.php?category=photography (so if after links, there is one more variable)
/modules/destinations/links.php?location=china
/modules/destinations/attractions.php?atid=60 (shanghai.html is just there for the user convenience)

So for me only the converting to php readable urls is the main goal.

Kind regards,

Martijn

Martinjn (wtravel):

We are looking at a very customized version here, it is possible, but it may have its own list of bugs.

I can't promise anything but as soon as Short URLs is error free I can help you customize it.

Anyway I have to say, there are other solutions which address search engine friendly urls by using "virtual" dirs. I really don't like "virtual" dirs as I had poor results with them. Search Engines don't usually /like/content/that/is/so/deep/within/a/dir, but as always, your millage may vary.
