what version are you trying to upgrade FROM?

I'll see if I can find some time to replicate the issue. I haven't moved all my production sites from 2.3.x to 2.4.4 yet; been too busy with client work to make that effort yet especially since there are some changes.

But, I can throw this up onto a clean version of 2.4.4 and see, but I'd need to know what version you are moving from.

I've tried yo upgrade 2.14 > 2.14, and 2.14 > 2.15, then downgrade 2.15 (copied files) to 2.14 (backup), and it still doesn't work :)

Apologies for not being clear in asking my questions. My understanding is that you had an existing version of SmartSection. Before you started having any problems, what version? Or did you start new with XOOPS 2.4.4 and SmartSection 2.14 and you were able to install it but not update it?

To fix a problem, as a developer, one must re-create it. Help me to understand the full path you took to create the problem, from start to finish, and maybe I can recreate the problem and fix it.

Hm, this is the situation:

One of working sites I've downloaded on my local drive and make it running with EasyPHP as local server.

Then I upgraded from Xoops 2.3.3 to 2.4.4. The site is working, so I've decided to make one more category in SmartSection (2.14), but there was those messages and broken screen, so I tried to update the module (2.14 to 2.14 in system > modules > update). Didn't work.

So I tried to update to 2.15. I did backup of ss 2.14, and copy 2.15 over it. Tried to update > no luck. Then I just copied backuped 2.14 over 2.15 again.

The module is working, but I can't create new category, and cannot update the module or upgrade it to new version.

That's it :)

I've found what's the cause of no-update issue.

The default gui! When I switched to Oxygen, all worked well. I suppose that there is some html/css problem?

I've got a new install of Xoops 2.4.4 on a localhost, and Smartsection 2.14 (Final) and I can't create categories. I get the error

The GUI is Oxygen, I'm running on my localhost Apache 2.2.11, MySql 5.1.36 and php 5.3.0

Any help on this?

Edit smartsection/class/form-editcategory.php file and replace XoopsThemeForm with XoopsForm at line 22.
