Experiencing a short delay while we de-bug the installation package.

Hang in there. It will be worth the wait.

I was getting ready to install a newsletter module.

Does this mean that I should wait because it is only a matter of weeks?

I believe an alpha test release is not too far off.

Marcan

Thanks for that. I've logged some bug reports at dev.xoops

I have a question concerning the SmartObjects module. I see that you are moving to having some core reuseable functionality that you will build your modules on. Good idea, and something that I have done at XBS and I believe the CBB guys have done as well. From reading the XOOPS 4 stuff however, I thought the idea was for mod devs to put this sort of stuff under a new directory 'Frameworks' located in the XOOPS root. I.e.
/Frameworks/SmartFactory
/Frameworks/XBS
/Frameworks/XForge

etc

Am I wrong or is there some other reason why you have chosen to go the module route? I ask, because I'm just in the process of pulling out everything under the CDM module that underpins most XBS mods and creating a Frameworks implementation to support the next version of ModGen.

Regards
A

Hi Aand thanks for the bug reports.

As for SmartObject being a module, well I beleive it's a more natural way for users. Users are used to install XOOPS module, it's easy.

Plus, SmartObject has some administrative features now and will have more in the futur. For now, it has a Links managing system and a multilanguage Tag managing system (which is not completed). The Links system is a feature modules cans use to add a little "Send to a friend" link on there module pages (articles, forums, posts, categories, whatever...). Clicking on that link will display a popup window where the user can enter the name and email of his friends, plus he can customize the message. SmartObject will send this and will keep track of everything : who sent it, when, to who, etc... Of course, one will be able to disable the "tracking" feature if he does not need it.

You can see this live here. Have a look at the little Send to a friend icon on the bottom left of that page.

And this is only one feature, but I have other in my pocket for the futur...

I also plan to fully document SmartObject has it can done a lot of neat things Currently, we have SmartContent and SmartSop that are fully usig SmartObject (SmartMail is not currently using it at 100%). Those 2 new modules should be released soon.

Hope this answer your question !

Cheers!

PS: If you want to continue the discussion on SmartObjects, great. Please start a new topic!

Thanks guys for the rls!! Been waiting a long time for just this sort of thing!!

I am using 2.2 and I dont think it was ready for it yet according to previous posts but I installed anyway. Everything seems to be ok and work other than when I add something to a block, I cannot delete it. It says confirm delete, says its deleted, but is still there.

Is this just a compat issue with 2.2 or something others are experiencing with 2.0

Thanks!!!!!
