i suggest you re read the FAQ ;) templates are uploaded in tar.gz format.. themes CAN'T be uploaded via xoops.. you have to upload a theme physically to the server via ftp.. you are definitely getting confused between templates and themes..

Still don't get what the upload function within XOOPS admin does.... I've read everything here and the links.
