p-d downloads maximum file size...only 64MB!

never mind!!it can't be done.

i need to change this...some of the multimedia files are WAY bigger than this!

i found the setting but when i change the numbers it always reverts back to 64MB. i did see a message that said it took the info from the php.ini file but i dont know what this means.

help pls?

php.ini file is on your server, and if you don't have access to it yourself, then you need to talk to your Host support people to change it for you.

yeah, they refuse to raise it so it can't go higher.

so is there a way to make p-d download find the file that's already uploaded via ftp?

You should always share the solution with the rest of us, so we can learn, and in the future point to your solution if people have similar questions.

absolutely, my bad. i got sucked into the next problem. :P

u have to upload via ftp then when u create a new download u link to the file and it does it's thing.

my problem with this is that i can't have people upload their files through the program. i have to find time another day to sort out how to let people upload. everything has to be verified before it can be posted anyway so it's not that big of a deal right now but all that traffic will kill my internet. bell will come looking for an arm or a first born or something so i will need to address the consequences of all of this later. suggestions welcome.

Better now than later. Most up-to-date hosting providers now allow you these kind of privilege. It's better to do your homework now that later. This restriction is mainly due to bandwidth, storage or security which the hosting company may see as an issue when it comes to expanding/scaling if these privilage were to be allowed.

THEY SAY LARGE FILES CAUSE PHP TO TIME OUT OFTEN WHICH CAUSES A STRAIN ON THE SERVER. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS TRU OR NOT. THEY RECOMMEND FTP. END OF STORY.

AS FAR AS HOMEWORK GOES....NOBODY CAN THINK OF EVERYTHING. ESPECIALLY AS THIS IS A NEW PROJECT IT'S A LOT OF TRIAL AND ERROR.

I KNOW THE FTP CAN BE SET UP TO DO WHAT I WANT...IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME. I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH AND I REALLY CAN'T SEEM TO GET ANY HELP WITH THIS BROKEN THEME.
