Thanks Herko and JackJ, this really took me a long time to do and hopefully can be put to use.

CBlue helped me in brainstorming and I usually as her about things since CBlue has delt with a lot of support here.

Its hard trying to figure out what can be done, but hopefully I will get more feedback now.

One of the problems I discovered today with sessions is that once you are in a topic on the forum the session id is in the link so when user A instant messages that to user B and user B follows that link he magically becomes user A.

This of course immediately degraded into the two users modifying each others profiles.

Is there a workaround for this?

The only think I can think of is manually editing the link before linking others, but i'm sure there is another way.

To get a better responce I would have started a new topic just to let you know.

Sorry I couldn't be much of any help in this one but I'm sure others can produce a better answer.

That's the #1 disadvantage of using sessions. The ID has to be passed around somehow. I think that passing the session ID in a cookie is better than passing it in the URL.

Workaround: tell your users to remove the session ID from the URL before giving it to someone else.

Yeah that might have gotten a better response...

I noted that sessions arent used here so I took that as a sign and shut them off on my site.

I quit using sessions too when it would rewrite links on me in my cjay content module. It would add sessions to my links and then the links wouldn't work right. So I don't use sessions anymore.
