Why am I getting email from XOOPS?

I disabled notifications and all that stuff in my profile, but today I just got around 12 messages from x-mas@xoops.org, each one in a different lanuage.

Does anyone know what's going on?

i don't understand why people are complaining !

i was happy to receive an e-mail from XOOPS for x-mas

then according to oter mail i received it was not due to XOOPS but only to people who are still registered on this website even if their adress is bad (there were error messages in french) ans the mail adress used by XOOPS did was she was made too, send it to all members !

So thank you again XOOPS i wish you a merry christmas and a happy new year

HEHEHE... I've received "x" email but i've understand is only an momentaneous mistake or bug of some php in test... no problem this is not spamming is working in progress.

Thanks for the great work of XOOPS developper.

I was very happy to receive XOOPS holiday greetings also, and I do not even celebrate christmas. It was very nice and done with good intentions. Thank you XOOPS for the good wishes and excellent CMS.

The mess up in email was a mistake, it was not a commercial electronic message and is not considered spam.
It was a refreshing change to the 30+ spam mails I get for penile enlargement and college butt girls...etc.

Though in most states and countries verbal abuse is against the law and punishable by the laws of those states and countries.

The first xmas one was ok, and a nice thought.
However the next 20 were just as annoying as spam even if they dont sell anything or whatever qualifies it as spam

You can use a junk mail filter or even block the emails in your email program if you really want to stop getting them.

As Catzwolf explained in his news post about this, due to the way some mailservers work, you might get them for another day or so. However, we are no longer sending ANY e-mails to that list. It has been removed completely, and the sendmail queue has been emptied.

Again, we do sincerely apologise, but it was just an error.

Poor Herko! :( I'm sorry that you have had so many mean spirited people complaining and ranting about the mistake with the mailing list.

These people obviously don't know anything about blocking email addresses from their email programs. If they had bothered to even do that then they would have nothing to complain about. I think they just like having something to complain about!
