I don't know of any free programs off hand, but Dreamweaver MX has an integrated CSS (and other code) converter/validator. If you are serious about getting into web design, you may want to look into buying Dreamweaver and becoming proficient in it.

Here's a free trial download if you are interested.

TopStyle lite is bundled with Studio MX. I believe the Pro version is what is integrated into Dreamweaver. TopStyle Lite is nice for a free editor, but it does not include the validation tools needed to verify that the CSS will work with IE, NN, and MAC.

TSW Webcoder is another fine editor, but I think it only validates HTML.

There's always the option of bookmarking the W3C CSS Validator. The downside is that you won't be able to capitalize on each browsers capabilities, but the advantage is that your site would look the same to all visitors.

Top Style Pro will export your CSS into any known format and validate it as well. I just gave it a try on my system to see how it works. I havn't tested it with Dreamweaver yet, but even as a standalone it's a good product.

Top Style Pro does that? gah,I have Top Style Pro 2.5 and I didn't realise that! That will make theme-making a lot easier!

Although am I right in saying that the Mac and NN CSS files in a theme only need to contain the exceptions to anything that doesn't work well in the main CSS file?

I'm a Mac user working on a theme (in its early stages) and so far I've not had to put any code into the Mac or NN files.

It just sounded to me like the original poster thought that maybe you need to take the main CSS file and convert the whole thing and repeat that info in the other files? (Sorry if that's not what you were implying).

Phil

I don't know about older versions, but 3.1 Pro does.
