Is this possible? I would like to sort my news (articles) in different topics (categories) so that I somehow can select where I show each group of news. I could be selected on user group, link to page, topic or something else.

Grateful for guidance.... maybe i should use another module than news?

regards/falke

For a news topics blocks see here:

https://xoops.org/modules/mydownloads/singlefile.php?cid=24&lid=528

Using the topics block each news topic link will only bring up news articles related to individual news topics.

If using this it is better not to have news as your default launch module, or make sure any center blocks only appear in the "top" page, this will ensure you get topic related news pages without any other blocks appearing. You could also use the news "spotlight" block on your frontpage. In general settings for the default startup mudule you can choose "none". Then just add various "blocks" for news links

http://wfsections.xoops2.com/modules/news/

Here you will also find wfsections, which is a sophisticated article management system, categories/sub-categories etc. New version due to be released.

Edit: or you could create a custom block and have links like this to "Topics"

Spotlight is mainly for news. there is an option to use another block for wfsections. Yes looks like Catswolf has taken them down for some reason, I will look into it. I know he is working on bux fixes just now.

try this one:

https://xoops.org/modules/mydownloads/singlefile.php?cid=24&lid=675

This one is also compatible with Xfsection (a cloned module of wfsections with bug fixes applied)

When I say "bugs" I mean minor backend issues that do not affect the functionality or stability of the module.
