Running Xoops using a forwarding Domain name

I currently own a domain name that forwards to another URL.
My XOOPS server sits on my home computer, and I use DynDns.org to supply my home computer with another domain name.


I've tried running the XOOPS site in an IFRAME, to keep the nice, payed for Domain name. But XOOPS doesnt work in the IFRAME.

At the moment, I get my nice, payed for domain to BREAK out of it's frame and forward onto the dyndns domain name.

Is there anyway around this? All links are ugly, and dont show the domain name that i'd rather use.

example.
http://www.niceshineydomain.com is the domain i want to use.
ugly.freedns.org is the dyndns domain, which I dont want to see.

Better if you use CNAME instead of URL forwarding. Some registrars call it Alias or something like that. So instead of that goofy forwarding set your DNS entry to Alias

http://www.niceshineydomain.com == ugly.freedns.org

This works well and how I've done my sites for years including XOOPS sites.

i'm stuck with forwarding with my Domain Registration company. think i will move it to another host. could do with secondary DNS too.

I think if you're going to have to either pay for a managed dns service or pay for hosting.

Doesn't DynDns.org offer a few different options for paid dns management? They should be able to properly handle your traffic so no 'forwading' occurs.

'nuff said. It's a free DNS service for up to 5 domains per user I think. I use it for all of my websites that I host at home, and I haven't had a single problem.
