Hey xoopeople's! Need some help/guidance/advice! I have notupdated my site since I started using XOOPS which was several months ago. chose XOOPS because it was easy to install and understand

My problem is that I am not sure what module to use for creating a "standard" web page type page. My purpose for XOOPS really is to create a weblog page type layout but also offer some tutorials and screenshots and stories about my adventures into the miscellaneous. I do a lot of different things so it is nice to be able to organize these a bit with xoops

I am just not getting a clear understanding of what modules like Articles, tinycontent, wfsection, etc do? Are they all a way of making standard html pages or am I just looking in the wrong place?

Thanks to all!

Cat

Hello queentux

Yes these are "content" modules. They make it easy for you to create pages within XOOPS using HTML code or wysiwyg editors. (what you see is what you get). You can also wrap static external HTML pages in Xoops. The content from these modules are included in the XOOPS global search.

These modules come with "blocks" which provide link menus to the articles, normally the artice title is the link to the page.

Some users paste HTML code from Dreamweaver or Frontpage into the HTML editors that come with the modules. You just upload any images to wherever and define the paths to the images in the code. IE yoursite.com/images/yourpic.gif

wfsections is the big brother of them all, which has category / sub category facilities and many more. A new release is due soon, I don't know when.

TinyContent is a nice module with a wysiwyg editor, which might suit your needs. The best way to find out about their features is install some content modules and see for yourself.

The "Standard" webpage look can be achieved by finding the right theme or look for you. I recently download a "web-blog" looking theme which I thought was nice.

See here:

http://www.oceannet.jp

Just click on the theme links and you will see what they look like

Xoops also has a "weblog" type module

http://wellwine.net/modules/weblog/index.php?&cat_id=2

For more info see here:

Lots more around just type "themes xoops" in google

JackJ: Thank you for that wonderful and thorgouh answer. I am having a better understanding.

I did try the weblog module from wellwine a while ago but I think I will just use the news module and modify it a bit.

Thank you again for answering. I am more confident about choices that I make for xoops
