Hello guys!

I have selected XOOPS CMS as a base for my site, all things were OK except the one, i don't understand how to make news fully visible right on the root of the domain?

now i have this layout:
---------------------------------------
Recent news:
- New Article2 (2004/2/28)
- New Article1 (2004/2/28)
---------------------------------------
so there is only the heading of the news :(
but i want the full text of the news be visible on the root of my domain, just like it is done here: http://www.linux-themes.uni.cc/

hope you understand what i want to say?

welcome to Xoops

To have news visible on the start page you need to set up the news module as the default load module.

To do this you go to system admin/preferences/general settings

then look for "Module for your start page"

Choose "News " as your default module

regards

thanks for you answer, but it is not what i want, you don't understand me...
that method that you offer just tells browser to redirect to /modules/news/ folder, but i want them to be on the root of the domain not in the subfolders of it.

check this site in your sig, you see it has full visible news right in the root

Hi alexon,
jackJ has just proceed as described, of course you cannot see the .../modules/news/ because he's using an url mod_rewrite.
But be sure that what he has explained is the solution to have articles fully visibles.

ok, that's the explanation, i thought that XOOPS can do it by itself, i'll check the mod_rewrite docs :)

Probably "just" URL masking - the links are normal, but when you click on them, the address URL doesn't change.

his server returns 200 code for the request to the root of his domain, but my server returns 302 with redirection to /modules/news/ for the root request

Alexon, did you try a search into this forum and read that:
ShortURLs hack?
It's really a question, not a bad french joke!
I think JackJ is using this hack, but I can't be really sure (I just saw he had posted in this thread).

Edited: You should also try this link.
