XOOPS is perhaps one of the most versatile CMS I have ever worked with. However there is one aspect that continue to elude me (I think I might have posted this question before).

I want to make pages where it contain

1. An introduction re the webpage section (eg Department A or Function B or Person C). These info are not frequently changed so it is ideal for modules like WF-Channels or WF-Sections or CJAY Content

2. At the bottom (or left/right) of the above, I want to have the latest news for that page (ie Department/Function/Person).

So my website will look like this

Department-A Page (eg Music Faculty for University)
[Who we are, what we do... when we do it... etc etc etc...]
[Department-A News:]
- 02/02/04 - We're going here.... (read more)
- 01/01/04 - It's New Year!!! Guess what??? (read more)

Repeat the above for Function-B
eg (Inter-Clan Battlefield war diary)

Repeat the above for Person-C
eg Blog for Joe Blogg

See what I mean about this design? It is suitable for company intranet as well as community website.

XOOPS currently have that capability on it home page only ie I can specify WF-Channel as the default home page, then add the news block under it.

But I cannot do that for other pages....

Or can I?

It would really make my day if someone can tell me it has been done before. If not I will make it my goal to learn enough PHP to create this module myself (this could take several months, years, decades of course )

don't think u can make 1 module show different news for a differnt page.. it's the same news or non at all..

but saying that, i'm no expert with xoops..

on the other hand as a workaround, you could get hold of 2 cloned news modules..

news02 -biz- is 1 which will do the job, and i think stories is another.. that way u can write different articles into different modules and assign each module to each of your depts..

Sorry I got no idea what you're trying to tell me....

I know how to make two pages for two different news topic. That's not the problem.

The problem is making two (or more) news-topic pages, each with its own WF-Channel or CJAY-Content intro block at the top.

For example

This page http://www.albanycc.org.nz/modules/wfchannel/index.php?pagenum=11 as the top block

and this page (the news section) on the bottom block.
http://www.albanycc.org.nz/modules/news/article.php?storyid=10

Each time I post a news article regarding PWC it will appear below the intro.

The simplest way is to make custom blocks for all your content amd arrange them in the blocks admnistration pages. You will not have the facility of comments/ replies like he news module, but you WILL be able to format and use graphics. Maybe this is all you need

I know you are saying it is easy to make custom blocks. But I don't know how to make block like this....

How do I make pages for the following?

a. A page containing "Intro to Music Dept" (top center block) + (bottom center block) News Topic (Current) - Music Dept.

b. Another page containing "Intro to Dance Dept" (top center block) + (bottom center block) News Topic (Current) - Dance Dept.

and so on and so on

Then I need to be able to URL to these pages (Music Dept, Dance Dept, etc etc..)

1. I can't see how you can make this block

and

2. I can't see how you can URL to it

by using custom blocks.
