Problem with Swedish RSS feed

I've successfully installed XOOPS and can add headlines which points to CNN.com RSS feeds and more.

But I am unable to add a RSS feed from one of our largest newspapers. Could it be because of problems with national languages?

The feed URL is:
http://www.dn.se/DNet/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=1399

some more:
http://www.dn.se/DNet/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=1400
http://www.dn.se/DNet/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=1401
http://www.dn.se/DNet/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=1402

All of them validate OK when tested with rss.scripting.com but nothing shows up when I try to enable them as XOOPS headline feeds.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Joakim

Nice of you to reply in swedish, but could you give an english translation as well, so we can all benefit from your experience and knowledge?

Doesn't everybody understand swedish?
Well, ok I had the same problem but downloaded the german hack i suggested above. Install here: /class/xml/ overwrite the original saxparser.php
In your configuration for swedish feeds choose iso-8859-1

that solved my problem.

Thanks. It solved my problem. BUt it would be even better to get an explanation of what was wrong? I assume the DN.se feeds, since they are valid RSS feeds, should work out of the box...

Anyone know what the fix is in the saxparser.php file?

Cheers,
Joakim

One problem with RSS feeds is that very few seems to follow a standard. In Sweden we have two major evening newspapers with different feeds on their web sites. One of these papers, Expressen, has this feed: http://expressen.se/expressen/jsp/xml.jsp?page=10 It doesn't look like a standard RSS-feed, but very similar. Is there anybody that knows if it's possible to make this work in the headlines module?

This is not only a swedish problem. All feeds with other characters than standard englich characters (german, french, polish, swedish or what you want) are not working with the standard saxparser.php.

The hack is in row 44 (not from me)
instead of:
$this->parser = xml_parser_create('UTF-8');
Hack:
$this->parser = xml_parser_create();

I think this makes the feeds displayed with ISO-8859-1 code as default.

I have polish XOOPS site and trying to add headlines from another polish site (non-XOOPS):
http://anime.com.pl/feed.php?mode=rss&content=news

But it doesn't work for me. I tried all encodes, and nothing. It just doesn't show up. ANd that saxparser link doesn't work for me.

saxparser is on http://www.myxoopsforge.de/dl/saxparser.zip

but i've installed this older version of saxparser and i see the same problem with the encoding as the swedish and polish users (i'm czech). rss feeds doesn't convert from specified encoding to default encoding on my site (UTF-8->iso8859-2, windows-1250->iso8859-2).

i've read many posts about this on xoops.org, but i've didn't found anyone, who have solve it yet. does anybody know, how to make this module finally working well with non-english languages?
