max image size problem

using XOOPS 2.0.5.2 and myalbum-p 2.6

I set the max width to 690 and the max height to 517

but when somebody submits a photo that's bigger than those specs, it still submits the photo instead of giving an error out.. then when the image is viewed in full it throws the screen out cos the width pushes the right column of the screen so u have to scroll right to see it all..

I can't seem to install netpbm or imagemagick on the server as the host doesn't have it installed, and when i asked them if they could install it they said sorry we can't.. so i'm stuck using the GD method..

hi m0nty.

There is a typo in class/uploader.php.
This means that the limitation for height is used by the limitation for width.

Or, do you use myDownloads RC1 too?
Since this module overwrite class/uploader.php, I can't guess the behaviour.

I know you can't use ImageMagick or NetPBM.
But did you try "force GD2" ?
If it succeed, you can get the images auto-resized.

yeas i use mydownloads RC1 aswell, and also the force GD2 feature which seems to work making the thumbnails, altho sometimes it shows just a plain black image in the pic up photo block..

i just tried rebuilding thumbnails and resizing larger images function.. it goes thru and says main photo resized to the dimensions specified, but the images aren't being resized and still show at the uploaded dimension, some are 1600 wide..

this typo in the uploader?? is it the maxdimention that needs changing to maxdimension??

The feature of resizing main photo only works under ImageMagick, NetPBM, or forced GD2.
Perhaps you don't have GD2 environment.
Thus I can't help you about resizing and the quality of thumnails.

The problem of uploading size will be solved only if class/uploader.php is replaced the file of XOOPS original core.

I can't support for hacked environment at all.
(myDownloads RC1 is one of "hack module" like IPBM, 4images ...)
