What do you mean by "precompile Xoops"? Are you talking about precompiling the Smarty templates?

Hi,

Someone mentioned that if I precompile a web application, to machine code it would run faster.

Another person also mentioned using Zend Optimizer. I'm a bit confused. I just want to find out how to make XOOPS uber fast

Installing PhpAccelerator on your host might help...

Using a PHP accelerator with SMARTY should in fact work very well and is encouraged by the people behind SMARTY.

Careful usage of the block and module caching will also give a good result.

I'm using mmcache. It plays well with Smarty. It pre-compiles PHP / Smarty scripts as they are run, plus other caching schemes. I also have a thread from a while back.
