Ok, I'm fighting my way through this set up and I've hit a snag. XOOPS is not sending mail.

I can register. It tells me the activation key email has been sent. But the receiver never gets it.

I've tried messing with all of the mail options -- SMTP, etc. The only thing that doesn't result in a server error is the PHP mail setting. But then the mail never comes.

Have I missed a step somewhere?

Re: Mail Problem

It all depends on where your server is and what options you have. Is it hosted etc etc.

Using PHP mail it tries to send from the server like a regular SMTP server. You might not be allowed to from that server.

If you can imagine sending mail like a regular user would from the server machine, what options would you have to use for sending? Pretend you have Outlook (the horror...) and have to fill in the SMTP options. Those are the settings you want to use in Xoops.

If it is hosted you can just ask them what SMTP options are available. Might give you a hostname like smtp.yoursite.com etc.
