how do i set a background color for the index page, which only applies to that page and none of the other pages on the website..

you have to edit the theme.php file and i think there is an index.php file. You need to get the colour code that you want and then edit the html of the files.

Try to edit the theme.html file in your theme and change the first table bgcolor ...
