Yes it can slow down your site. I've used different scripts like this before and they all will slow down the site because the snow is a continuously running script.

I saw your site and it is indeed working! I'm going to take the snow off mine now because I don't want it on the site. I have petitoops' christmas themes on another site for my users to use as their theme if they want.

I made the image of the snow a little bit smaller and now it works faster..

You're welcome! You can even replace that image with a better looking snowflake if you wish. I know that there are sites that have different looking snow gifs.

All i have to do is snag a few transparent gif symbols that fade in and out.

Yup, this script is IE only. I've found a cross-browser script, which you can find at the Dutch XOOPS Support Site.
