How to add new fields in User Registration form?

I wonder, whether it is at all possible to add new fields into XOOPS User Regisration Form apart from the inbuilt XOOPS user registration fields ? I think its difficult because XOOPS use pre-built xoops_user database for all other modules. Please help !

u have to hack it into the MySQL database
kernel/user.php
edituser.php
etc.

or wait for 2.1 there will be dynamic user fields u can disable fields and add new etc.

Yes, though it is possible to alter database with new fields, but what about the pages which extracts the fields from that database? I need to work on every pages for this, like, user.php , edituser.php :(

good news, btw, 2.1 or 2.6 ?
