cwihosting.com is another good alternative. So far it has not been down (6 months) while I was watching. They even refund you half of the monthly fees if a site is down longer than 20 minutes in a row or not related to a reboot (although I did not know that when I signed up ).

For another site I use eroute.net but the last couple of days it has been out of the air frequently so I do not consider it to be reliable. They have a very good response time but I prefer both uptime/speed and good service.

I have been using Always Web Hosting for about 1 year for my personal site, and for several ministry sites that I support.

Since I have experience with sites on different servers, I can share that some servers are more "exhausted" than others, and he uses a shared MySQL host (separate from the web server boxes).

Web packages are relatively cheap: <$30 month for 2GB storage/30Gb bandwidth and unlimited everything.

They have been very responsive both by e-mail and IM (even phone) when I have had problems. Most frequent issue is DNS for subdomains getting confused. (happened twice in 1 year).

their service and support were better than AWH, but the packages were smaller (300MB) and limited subdomains and databases.

Friends have had good success with Host Rocket
