I would like to add an email link in a news story i.e. DIANE and not have the email address shown.

Shown where?

Are you trying to hide the email address from bots or from users?

Depending on what you are hiding, you could create the email address as an image that bots can't read. Or, you can encrypt the mailto or use a remailer script as detailed in these links.

Another approach is to encrypt the email address:

yes, im not sure but i don't think he wants to encrypt it. Do you mean like you click DIANE and it e-mails it. if so

<a href="mailto:diane@whereever.yep">DIANE</a>

then in the bottom uncheck disable HTML.

Mabye this is what he needs...
