I upgraded my Xoops install to 2.5.6
I noticed in the upgrade instruction that I should be sure to update:
- Protector
- PM
- Profile

I have Protector 3.4, but is that the newest version.

I was not able to find the PM or the Profile module. Where can I find these modules or have they been built into Xoops 2.5.6 ?

I'm also have a problem with Registration spam. I'm getting dozens of fake account registrations daily.
What can I do about this?

They are part of the installation. Just click on the "update" icon in the Modules view (/modules/system/admin.php?fct=modulesadmin). That's the reason why we show the different icon, to indicated that you should click on it to run the update.

You should also copy the /upgrade folder, and run it to make sure that the whole XOOPS installation is upgraded correctly.

Just search on the forums - this has been addressed many times before. For example, see my response here

Mamba beat me to it...

The full 2.5.6 package contains the latest versions of PM, Profile and Protector. You will want to upgrade to the versions included in the 2.5.6 package and no others. Other versions are NOT supported and their quality can not be assured.

Use the methods Mamba already outlined.

What version of Xoops did you upgrade from?

The new versions of these modules should have been copied over the top of your old versions when you did the upgrade and upgrading the modules as Mamba has outlined should work. If you are unsure then I would suggest deleting the PM, Profile and Protector directories from your installation and copying them over from the original 2.5.6 installation package then run update from the admin menu as mamba outlined.

They can be found in the following directories.

modules/pm/
modules/profile/
modules/protector/
