The top admin bar in the the xpressme read screen is welcoming a previous user instead of (yours truly). Even when displayed user is offline.

It has a user account edit feature associated with it that allows them to edit the profile. However the profile that it gives you to edit is your own despite who the display says you are.

There are web tutorials to stop it from being called in xpressmes functions.php, however none of them worked.

So I just neutered the admin bar by removing most of the functions from admin-bar.php, then update the module in modules admin. It has stripped all WordPress logo, about, links, forums, feedback, edit, ability for someone with read only privileges to go to the backend (dangerous), and the ability of user to tweak his profile through the WP admin bar.

While this file is actually from the WP supply chain not Xpressme, Xpressme maintainer should still block WP profile from using xpressme to change XOOPS profile.

Works nice now.

Hi Toemin, how are you?
Thanks for the article.

All I did was open the blog module and the greeting was for another users.

The example that pertains in the linked document is
Admin bar gets removed by admin for all users (last paragraph), not user determined.

I consulted and tried many reference examples from the web, updating module and purging/recompiling caches each time. But problem continued.

Only after stripping all of the admin bar functions was I able to lose the bar. Even though the report says that you cannot remove it, trust me when I say it is gone, to which I say good riddance. No bugs resulted anywhere else after eliminating it.

My user display issue aside, I am not alone in saying that bar is useless for XOOPS. One of the big points being made across many the web references I consulted were complaints from CMS admins integrating Wordpress who wanted to get rid of that bar that just would not go away.

Sounds to me like the module or something is cached and is displaying the previous user that logged on or used that particular module or block that is cached. I could and most probably am wrong lol...

Cheers,
Marty.

I don't know that it needs to be caching the dynamic data.

Exactly, but to me it sounds like it is.

When enabled the module cache, that problem seems to occur.
Now,I made the following fixes.
http://trac.toemon.com/XPressME/changeset/839

Until the next version(XPressME ver2.5.0) is released, please disable the xpress module cache or adapt this patch.

Toemoon, Cifug

Thanks.

If it is at all possible to include a config option to allow admin to eliminate the admin bar for all users from within the Xpresme module config, please consider that also for the next release.

Can't Global Hide/Remove Toolbar Plugin fill your request?
