I sent private message to Mamba (around his birthday), the link to the French translation of XOOPS 2.5.5, but he did not put it on the sourceforge.

You email just gave me a link to it, but it sounded more like "FYI" email, with no request for action, so I didn't do anything, especially since I saw the French translation being available on www.frxoops.org

Unfortunately, it's true

That's why I am happy that DCrussader is helping with the Transifex issues.

But I've created a directory on SourceForge for 2.5.x Translations, and uploaded the French 2.5.5 version there.

Other versions and language files will follow, as they become available.

It will be later today.

Thanks for doing it, DCrussader.

We'll need to find a way of linking Transifex to our SourceForge SVN language files, so once translated on Transifex, the translated files can be synched with SVN, and then we could give a link to download them as Tarball file from SVN.

This will simplify a lot of things.

Unless, there is an easy way to download them from Transifex without using their client.

Thank you Mamba

Doesn't it make duplication with another link?

These are "zipped" files, the other one is for SVN files.

If people would update SVN consistently (or if we manage to have a synch process between Transifex and SVN), then there would be no need for the directory with "zipped" files.

But let's take the French translations:

- the French translations on SVN have not been updated for the last 3 years

- The Core files on Transifex are only translated at 17%, and many of them were actually submitted by me, based on the French version of XOOPS 2.5.5

I know that the translations are done, but they are done somewhere else

As XOOPS Project we need to have one central repository for all translations. And both the SourceForge SVN and Transifex should be the place for it, with hopefully a synch link between them in the future, so actually the translation will be done on Transifex, and synch into our SVN.

But if we have to tell people to go to a different location for each language, it's not very efficient. It's easier to provide a link on individual support sites (be it French or German or Arabic) to this particular central location where they could find all languages they are looking for.

Give me the rights to the svn and you will see if it is not updated
For Transifex, I lost patience because sometimes some lines would no longer be displayed.

OK, I've added you to SourceForge SVN. You can start working now on French translations.

But we need to fix any issues there are on Transifex, as this should be our main translation platform....

I think using Transifex is really good and if we find a good way/process to make the translations avaliable to the community ASAP after they're completed there should be no reason why all local translators shouldn't use that.

You can't, locale.php must be provided separately

Ok then the core team should remove this file from transifex or just define another file like locale_lang?

Edit:
to Mamba:
did you send a request to transifex.net admins about changing the return method from windows CR+LF to linux LF?
if yes, what is their answer and their reasons for using windows return method?

BUMP

when you put all completed translations in transifex into sf.net xoops 2.5.5 branch?

I was hoping that DCrussader will do it, as he knows the process the best. I hope, he'll read this message and respond.
