Upgrade from 2.0.17 to xoops 2.4.4

Hello all,
I am upgrading from 2.0.17 to 2.4.4,
I followed the instructions given in the release notes as under:

Upgrading from XOOPS 2.0.* above 2.0.14 and 2.2.* (using the full package)
Is it true for me to follow the given instructions under these versions??? or I should follow some other version instructions
0. Unpacked the archive to LOCAL computer
1. Moved the "upgrade" folder inside the "htdocs" folder
2. Deleted htdocs/mainfile.php, htdocs/install/, htdocs/cache/, htdocs/template_c/, htdocs/themes/ and htdocs/uploads/ from the "htdocs" folder on LOCAL computer
3. Uploaded the content of the /htdocs folder on LOCAL computer over my existing files on server
4. Accessed /upgrade/ in the browser, but.......
its showing "404 Not found" error

The requested URL /upgrade/ was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Where am I wrong? Where should be the upgrade folder?
And one more thing, the site is running as usual, should it run as usual??

It should be there, as the result of the correctly executed operations in point 1 and 3.

I checked on the ftp, upgrade folder is fully there. Its lying in the directory
htdocs /upgrade
but why its not being assessed?

What about different directories within "upgrade" folder like
/upd-2.0.17-to-2.0.18

???

Quote:
htdocs /upgrade
It says the content of htdocs!
These are the files and directories inside htdocs, but not the htdocs directory itself!

I wrote some notes on upgrading from 2.0.x to 2.3.x.

Those can likely help you to some degree.

There are a several differences between 2.3.x and 2.4.x, though, and I haven't done that upgrade yet myself to an entrenched XOOPS installation, but when I do, you can be assured I will post them here.

What structure do you have on your server?

Where are the XOOPS files located?

And where is the /upgrade folder located in relation to your XOOPS files?

Let's assume that your URL points to:

/home

Then your XOOPS files are located there.

If you copy the files from your local PC (including the /upgrade folder), then the Upgrade folder will be located as:

/home/upgrade

If this is done this way, then you cannot get the error 404

If the /upgrade folder is not in:

/home

than you did something wrong when you copied the files.
