Hi,

I installed a XOOPS 2.4.4 in a sub folder on one of my test sites and added this module. I was not able to reproduce any of the problems you were having. Is your gallery in side the document root of your XOOPS installation or the document root of your root website? Your gallery needs to be in the document root or a sub folder of your XOOPS installation. Also if you go to your system overview, are you using PHP 5 or 4? You need version 5. I uploaded another version here to add the French Language and also fix some permission issues....

Hi,

Do you have debug mode turned on when you are trying to add categories or collections? If so turn it off. The debug info that's printed out is like garbage to json and the requests will break. The
The only other thing I can do is to log into your XOOPS and try to find the problem.

Re: Gallery (Optikool) - Cannot create categories or collections

Hope to see this module reach 'stable' soon, as it's one of the nicest (cleanest looking) galleries available. Sadly, all (I think) of the gallery modules have bugs with 2.4.x and need hacking to run. This is a shame as I doubt there are many XOOPS sites out there which don't want a gallery mod, and a lot of people don't feel confident about their ability to hack.

Keep up the good work, optikool!

hi'

@sailjapan : you said that no gallery module works, could you tell us more ?

• extgallery 1.07 / 1.08 ?
• tadgallery 1.3
• xoopsgallery (updated by Catz)
• myAlbum-P 2.9
• XcGallery
• XsGal
• ?

My own experience : TadGallery and eXtGallery 1.7 works fine

Re: Gallery (Optikool) - Cannot create categories or collections

Actually, the gallery I have most luck with is MyAlbumP, but I always end up having to spend hours on the templates to get it looking half decent.

I've tried ...

• extgallery 1.07 / 1.08 ?
• tadgallery 1.3
• tdm Picture
• Gallery (Optikool)

...and can't get them to work smoothly (xoops 2.4.4 and earlier installs too if I remember right). I could probably hack them if I followed the various threads, but if I was a beginner or wanted something in a hurry, I'd have to pass on these.

• xoopsgallery (updated by Catz)
• XcGallery
• XsGal

These are modules I'm not so familiar with. I should download them and try, I suppose.

Sorry if my post sounded negative, I've just spent the last three days on getting a gallery working nicely and looking good too. It really ought to be less of a chore.

Try WebPhoto 2.10 it's MyAlbum-P on steroids :) Too many options, but it could import from it.

My case: I started to redesign my homepage, and I wanted to change MyAlbum-p into something more user friendly. I've tried all gallery modules, and had no luck. None of them fits my needs, so I rewrited MyAlbum-p templates. Instead of tables, I put DIVs, and added support for kind of lightbox gallery. Now it work well and demo you should expect soon. :)

Sounds ideal! Where can I download it from?

I think I tried webphoto (2.0?) a while back... I'd forgotten all about it
