We'll be adopting jQuery as javascript Framework on 2.4.
I'll be introducing some of the work done in XOOPS 3.0 to provide jQuery access from xoops_lib/Frameworks. This means that XOOPS will be able to deliver to browser the files that are kept in this private folder and that we will be able to share this framework on more that one XOOPS installation.

My problem is that I don't know exactly what plugins should go along with the jquery.js file. I thought about adding UI package and jGrowl.

Any suggestions on good jquery plugins that would be useful to have in core?

hi bro

just keep the main file of jquery updated and for plugins leave it to modules developers so they add what they need in /js folder in thier modules or allow to upload plugin files to /frameworks folder.

I agree with mowaffaq. put only minified jquery in the core. Then module developers will place any plugin they require in their own modules. I would even leave out ui package from core.
The less the core has to load the faster pages will display plus many modules won't even use this code.

I'd say jQuery and jQueryUI in the core should do. the module developers and the theme developers can then insert the plugins they require. I currently have been trying out building themes with jQuery. the only annoying thing for me is having to constantly insert the jQuery.min.js in all the themes. Then it would be nice to get the community to know about the best ways of avoiding conflicts with multiple jQuery scripts and with other useful scripts (mootools etc), that they may still want.

Quote:
jQuery and jQueryUI

I think, these two will be sufficient.

hi,

I use little jquery, mootools, but rather, the addition of jQuery in XOOPS is a bit "autoritary". I believe we must instead find a solution in the administration to enable or disable scripts jquery, mootools, etc ...
The remaining solution customization via templates that load current is very convenient.
Furthermore we do not need the ajax script is consistently activate the theme, sometimes just a block or template module
