Lets start by saying , Hi!!!!!!

I been having a good time with XOOPS ,so far ,nice work guys!!!

We been having a problem lately , It's all related around the articles we submit on the blog .Here is a bunch of the problem ,we've been having ;

1- Articles not coming out on the main page (ride away) & getting stuck in the admin panel under news/post&edit news section, (no matter, how many times I post the news again, by editing it again, it will not submit it, or show on the main page ) got to refresh 20 times submit 20 times ,logout & closed the IE & when i get back on the blog ,nothing has change !!Sometimes everything is working fine !

2- When we logout ,we get trowned at page 20 or 72 or 46!! Instead of getting the main page!!

3- Picture posted in article with a URL are coming out sometimes (we copy the URL in the box ,aligning it L or R then we press ok ,no picture code apear in the article !

Now ,I'm aware that those problems might not be all related together ,but, I wanted you guys to have a big picture of the problem !!

Those problem come & goes ,it is not always like this !

Here is the adress of the blog ;

911truth.ch

You guys can register & try posting a news just to see if you get the problem happening !!

What can it be & what could be done to resolve it ??

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi,

Welcome to xoops.org

Which version of xoops? Current is 2.3.2b
Which version of the News module? Current is 1.63

In the modules preferences there's a setting (4th setting down the list) to auto-approve news stories without admin intervention. Is this set to "Yes"?

I'm sure this is a settings/permissions issue rather than a bug; the News module is very well developed and mature these days and this sort of thing was ironed-out long ago. The forums would be alight if there were such a fundamental problem with is module (which I, for one, don't have). I've edited the topic title accordingly. Hope you don't mind

Therein is a likely source of the problem. The module was updated for XOOPS 2.3.x; version 1.56 was coded for earlier versions of xoops.

Unfortunately, I see that News v 1.63 is listed as being for PHP5 only. I see you're on PHP4.

I have News 1.61 and 1.62 zip files and the readme.txt say that PHP4 is supported with these. Send me a PM with your email address and I'll send v1.62.

I'm downloading 1.63 now and will let you know what this says.

Right - v1.63 also says PHP4 supported in the readme.txt.

You can download it here:
http://xoops.instant-zero.com/modules/mydownloads/singlefile.php?cid=2&lid=8

Try it on a test installation first and make a backup of your database before upgrading just in case the readme is wrong.

Is there anyway that you can update your site to PHP5? PHP4 is dead.
