I would like to offer a streamlined page for users to upload files. There is no need for platform, price, version, etc. There is equally no purpose for ratings and reviews or votes.
What files do I have to edit to remove these data entry areas from the submission page? If I can just comment them out somehow so I can turn them back on later, that would be ideal.

Too bad modules don't have a feature like the extended profiles where we could just set the variables that we want from a menu with the easy options to make them required/show on the form.

If there is a template, you could edit it to the minimalistic data you need.
Also with the theme CSS you can suppress data with display: none .
