Upgrade to Newbb 3.0.8

Hi everyone! I am currently on newbb 1.16 on XOOPS XOOPS 2.0.14. I would like to upgrade my forums to newbb 3.0.8. But is it safe to do so? Any tips for upgrading the forums?

Hello Trina,

I believe that cbb has a built in upgrade script to automagically complete the upgrade. However, remember to backup files and database before upgrading so you can roll back if trouble arises. Don't forget to read the install/upgrade instructions completely to make sure you have everything needed for the module to function.

In addition what jdseymour said, I would suggest to upgrade first to XOOPS to 2.18.1, as it is containing several security updates.

Yes trina, It is important to keep up with security updates for the safety of your site.

I tried the newbb 3.0.8 update, but it did not update at all. The forums went blank, so I reverted to the older newbb. Any suggestions?

Did you update XOOPS first to 2.0.18.1? I'm not sure if CBB 3.08 runs on 2.0.14

Plus, you really should update XOOPS because of security fixes that have been implemented since 2.0.14

I did the updates and Newbb does work only with the upgraded Xoops. But now my users are not able to log in if they logged out. It says welcome (username) but doesn't actually log them in. HELP!?!

I just followed the instructions <a href="https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=63861&viewmode=flat&order=ASC&type=&mode=0&start=20">here</a>. So far that works. This really should be a part of the upgrade instructions.
