Tool to design nice header logo/banner

I have downloaded some external XOOPS themes and would like to custom the logo/header banner...such as using my own photos and using animated graphics. Can someone recommend some tools to do that? Thanks.

Sounds like you need an image/photo editor to start with. If you want a feebie then try PhotoPlus from here:

your favorite photoeditor (photoshop, photofiltre, etc) and a hmtl/php editor like dreamveawer or similar.
somebody uses the simple notepad but i prefer a wysiwyg one
...
