Hi,

I wanted to know about your OS, not the web server. You said you were running Unix but there are a lot of Unix out there. I cannot help you to update MySQl without information about the OS.

Please ask your hosting company if you don't know.

Hi avtx30 and thanks!

My server host says its 'just Unix' - no version. I've PHP 4.3.11 and MySQL 4.0.26

does this make sense?

thanks

'just Unix' does not make sense. PHP and MySQL vesion does not too. Please type a command and paste the output here!

# uname -a

thanks!

That's RedHat Enterprise linux... it's not unix. If yum is installed its only a matter of updating your php and MySQL installs. You can check out the yum command syntax by typing "yum -help" in your ssh console (putty).

I tried the yum -help command (in root) but it gives 'command not found'
