I finally took Mithrandir's suggestion and made my host update the dedicated server to PHP 5 so I could use the modules SmartProfile and SmartBlocks. It's Fedora 5 which originally came with PHP 5, but I made them downgrade it to 4.4 when they set it up. NOW I can't get ANY php documents to open, they just try to download and say:

"You have chosen to open

which is an: application/x-httpd-php"

The tech support over there says that it must be the applications, but even a simple php test wont work. I tried a yum update with putty, I tried adding

AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps

to the bottom of httpd.conf.

I also ran the yum install on the http-devel.

Any suggestions? I needs those modules.

You restarted the service after making the change to httpd.conf and it still didn't work?

Sure did.... and then the host tried to roll it back to 4.4 and now all domain configurations have disappeared and nothing is working. This is a nightmare. I hope they can fix it because I have now lost all access.

If you had to add "AddType application/x-httpd-php .php" to the configuration file then it looks like your host did not install PHP 5 correctly.

Good luck...

They sure didn't. Now php5 won't build at all. I managed to get it back to 4, but they screwed it up for 5. I got into WHM and tried to rebuild it with every version of 5 available and got errors every time and nothing worked. I have put over 30 hours into trying to make this work.

I need ONE module, and this site, a 7 month project, can launch. (If the module does what it's supposed to.)

Unfortunately it's one of the TWO modules in the world I know of that require php5.
