hello , thank you for taking the time out to read this
could anyone please tell me what Zend Optimizer is suitable for PHP version 4.4.4?

Currently my host is using Zend Optimizer v2.5.10 with PHP version 4.4.4
As iam having several module problems .failing to work fully or not at all , i have read around these forums that the incorrect version of Zend Optimizer to the version of PHP may be responsible for such errors and failing

Are the above versions of each respective apps compatable with each other ?
thanks in advance

There could be many reasons your modules are failing to work. I doubt that it is Zend Optimizer but I suppose it could be. Modules usually fail because of upload/installation problems, incompatible module for the XOOPS version you are using are just examples.
Zend Optimizer is a host issue and often can be a problem if something is not correct in your php.ini file. I would check back with your host and confer with them if it is operating and configured properly on their server and if it is set correctly in your php.ini if applicable.

There is always the chance that it could be, but it's not that likely. Have you turned on PHP debugging in XOOPS? What sort of errors are reported?

I'm running PHP 4.4.4 on my server with Zend Optimiser, but version 2.6.2. It may be worth asking them to upgrade Zend. I guess they may have upgraded PHP and failed to upgrade Zend...

hi, thanks for the replies already recieved

and yes i looked at zend site, i cant find anywhere where it tells you a compatability list , otherwise i wouldnt have asked in here
another reason i have asked is becuase when i have told that my moudles are broken in the module support, they all say..zend optimizer is to blame etc etc

so...could anyone please tell me what Zend Optimizer is suitable for PHP version 4.4.4?

The following is based on MAMP releases which bundle the Zend Optimizer with PHP (2 versions) and MySQL.

PHP Version(s)        Zend Optimizer

4.4.4
5.2.0        3.2.2
4.4.4
5.1.6        3.0.1
4.4.2
5.1.4        2.6.0
4.4
5.0.4        2.5.10
4.3.11
5.0.4        2.5.7
4.3.9
5.0.2        2.5.5
4.3.7            2.5.5

MAMP appear to have skipped 2.6.2 in favour of 3.0.1 for use with PHP 4.4.4, but 2.6.2 may be fine.

I also could not find an 'official' compatibility list anywhere. This is frustrating as I believe using the wrong version can indeed cause problems.

hi, cheers again for that , seeing what i know about php and zend could fit on a stamp
So the word is then ..that Zend Optimizer v2.5.10 with PHP version 4.4.4 is incompatable?
and you should at least have 2.6.2 or 3.0.1 for use with PHP 4.4.4

Just so i know when i get back to my host and ask them if they are planning on upgrading

thanks

Kinda looks that way, if the MAMP bundles are anything to go by.

Of course, having a definitive list from Zend would be better IMHO. They do have a user forum. Might be worth registering and asking for help if you plan to confront your host.
