I consider starting a new site, mainly based as a blog, but with possibility to add XOOPs modules and functions.

Could anyone advice me which type of blog to use, and best of all: some links to some live blog-solutions on a XOOPS installation?

At the moment only Wordpress have integration on xoops, but it is impressive.

You can look athttp://xoopsforge.com/modules/wordpress/

I just use the News module. Works well and quite happy with it, but it doesn't have trackbacks and pings.

Wordpress is very nice and amazingly easy to use, but frankly if you just want a simple blog I would suggest running Wordpress directly, rather than as a XOOPS module. (If you want additional features then yeah, run it as a module).
