I need an empty module where I can put any text I want but the module link to be displayed at the place where are the other modules like news, guestbook, forum etc.

Use XBS Modgen (find it in module repository on this site) to create an empty module. Don't add any admin side pages but just click on the selection for user side pages and don't add any pages. Then you can edit index.php in the module root path to add any content you want where indicated in that file. Once installed, the mdule will display in teh user menu as per any other module.
