News 1.4 Text Color

I am trying to switch theme (to an awesome Xoopstuner theme). The new theme has a dark, black background as opposed to the older themes lighter background. When I switch the themes - the text in the news section (and blocks) is black and cannot be read. Is this something I need to change in the theme itself? Or is it a news template issue? Thanks.

Change red to whatever color you want.

p.itemText {color: red;}
