Upgrading Xoops

I am using XOOPS 2.0 and I am thinking about upgrading to the next stable version. Can anyone tell me the benefits of upgarding and how to go about this process with out losing to much uptime on the site. Mind you that the install will be through the hosting company.

Which 2.0.x.x are you at now? 2.0.13.2 is the current recomended version. See here

To get to this version it is recomended to do them one version at a time from the one you are at. You can follow a XOOPS system upgrade tutorial here

If your hosting company is doing the install find out what version they intend to install to - or is that your choice?

Well I am using 2.0.7 right now. If I install a another application it will be version 2.2.3 Final. what are the benefits of an upgrade?

I looked at the tutorial it seems fairly simple. However, My question is this will I loos any info?

Well - I stopped at 2.0.13.2...and didn;t lose any info...but as the best of the best around here say - alwaysbackup your db

There is a backup module you can use i think. haven;t got time to look for it for you right now.
