I clicked on the second link, the one it should be. to turn it off, you have to go into phpmyadmin. i'm trying to remember which table it is. either option or config options. let you know in a minute.

Can I re-install XOOPS to overwrite the files?

Probably, but I would turn it off and go through my files and folders first to see what happened and how it happened. I'd also go through the site's log files.

I'd also suggest you do a virus check on your computer ASAP. I'm running one now and already found three.

Thanks for your help -

Have you worked out how I'd turn it off.

ok, you need to get into phpmyadmin and look for the _config table. Browse the table until you see a row called "closesite." You want to set the value to 1. That should work. I'm going to get offline now; don't like the idea of being online when I know my computer is infected. Hope everything works out.
