Re: can any1 confirm (prob on xoops.org)

Better ad me to the list of victims- no wonder I am getting frustrated!!! I am trying to be a very good girl and search for answers to my problmes instead of asking about them but it is getting ridiculous..will try what you are doing Monty and search without logging in while you bash your head against a wall and try and figure out what is going on - cos i sure as heck am totaly clueless!!!

From about 12:00AM to 6:00AM this morning trying to view Xoops.org became impossible with errors showing that it couldn't connect to the Database:(

Yup, we were experiencing some problems, and took the server down for a while for unscheduled maitenance work (upgrading, retightening security etc.). The missing images are a part of the strange behaviour.

This sounds like a cookie problem. It's a problem when you log in because that's when the cookie is set.

Log in as administrator, go to preferences, general settings.

Scroll down and see if "Use custom session" is selected. I'll bet it is. Uncheck it, save, logout, and log back in. Look for the problems you were having. My guess is they're gone now.

I had this problem, too.

Here's my original post in the module support forum for a detailed description of my problem and a link to a helpful SQUID FAQ that helped me a lot.

Here's another thread that I think is about the same problem.

This is hard to debug because turning on debug mode didn't return any results. Everything I've seen in all of these threads sounds like the same problems I was having.

My question is, what is it about custom sessions that causes this problem? I don't know enough about PHP to fix it. Perhaps someone can compare the sntax of the default session to that of the custom session? It seems that there must be a subtle difference.

very old topic:
https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?viewmode=flat&topic_id=51029&forum=11
and it still unsolved:

no problem as anon user
but after login i cant search anything. by click on "search" i get a read error page.

also by click on any profile i get a read error page too.
- i have not this problem in any other XOOPS site.
- i use other pc and other os and browsers still the same.

my idea about: something like firewall issue in server

it's annoying either having to search whilst logged out, or when logged in have to use a 2nd browser that isn't logged in with to be able to search with.

now its six month that i do it without complain
